About
Women come to Mala Healing Arts when they want clear, grounded support for their health, fertility, and hormones.
Maire Cahoon is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist specializing in fertility acupuncture in Honolulu and women’s health. In addition to her private practice, she serves as the on-staff acupuncturist at Fertility Institute of Hawaii, where she works alongside reproductive endocrinologists to support patients preparing for and undergoing fertility treatments such as IVF and IUI.
Many of the women who seek care at Mala Healing Arts are in their mid to late 30s or early 40s. They are often busy professionals who have spent years focused on their careers and relationships. When it comes time to start a family, they are surprised by how confusing and stressful the fertility process can be. They are looking for someone who understands both the medical side of fertility treatment and the deeper connection between stress, hormones, and the body.
Through fertility acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and practical lifestyle guidance, Maire helps support the systems that influence reproductive health. Treatment focuses on improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, supporting hormone balance, regulating the menstrual cycle, improving egg quality, reducing inflammation, and helping the nervous system shift out of chronic stress.
Patients often work with Maire while trying to conceive naturally, preparing for fertility treatments such as IVF or IUI, or seeking support after pregnancy loss. Acupuncture is commonly used alongside reproductive endocrinology care to support implantation, reduce stress, and improve overall fertility outcomes.
Maire’s approach is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which views the body as an interconnected system. Instead of focusing on one symptom, treatment considers the full picture including digestion, sleep, stress, circulation, and energy levels so care can be tailored to each individual patient.
Her work is also informed by personal experience. After going through multiple rounds of IUI and IVF before conceiving her daughter, Maire understands how emotionally demanding the fertility process can be. That experience allows her to meet patients with honesty and empathy while helping them navigate the many decisions that come with fertility care.
At its core, the goal of Mala Healing Arts is simple: help women reconnect with their bodies, support their reproductive health, and create the strongest possible foundation for fertility and long-term wellness.
Why Choose Mala Healing Arts
Patients who come to Mala Healing Arts are often looking for more than a quick fix. Many are trying to conceive, preparing for IVF or IUI, dealing with hormone imbalances, or navigating painful or irregular cycles. They want a practitioner who understands both the medical side of fertility care and the deeper patterns happening in the body.
Maire’s work is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and focuses on supporting the body as a whole. Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, nutrition guidance, and lifestyle recommendations are used together to improve circulation, regulate the menstrual cycle, support hormone balance, and reduce the effects of chronic stress.
Every treatment plan is individualized. Fertility challenges, hormone imbalances, and reproductive health concerns can look very different from one woman to another. Care is designed around each patient’s health history, symptoms, and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Patients often work with Maire while trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF or IUI, or looking for support alongside care from a reproductive endocrinologist. The goal is always the same. Help the body function better and create the strongest possible foundation for fertility and long-term health.
Our Philosophy of Care
At Mala Healing Arts, care is built around three core values: clarity, empowerment, and alignment. These principles guide how patients are supported through fertility and women’s health challenges.
-
Fertility and hormone health can quickly become overwhelming.
Many women arrive after reading countless articles, trying different supplements, or hearing conflicting advice.
Care focuses on helping patients understand what may be happening in their bodies in a clear and practical way.
Instead of adding more noise, information is translated into simple, useful guidance so patients feel informed and steady rather than inundated.
-
Women are often told to wait, to be patient, or to simply hand their care over to the medical system.
At Mala Healing Arts, patients are encouraged to understand their cycles, their symptoms, and the factors that influence fertility.
Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and lifestyle guidance give women tools to actively support their reproductive health and feel more confident in the decisions they make along the way.
-
Health does not exist in isolation. Hormones, stress, sleep, digestion, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing all influence fertility and overall health.
Care is designed to support the whole person so that treatment plans fit realistically into a patient’s life.
The goal is to create changes that feel sustainable and meaningful while helping the body move back toward balance.
